How to install wheel spacers on a scooter

If you’re interested in adding a set of fresh wheels to your pro scooter, installing wheel spacers is the way to do it. Wheel spacers are easy to install, and in this blog, we show you how to do it properly. You can also refer to the short video for more guidance.

Note: 30mm wheel spacers are used here for demonstrative purposes. However, instructions apply for all our wheel spacers (including 24mm and 28mm). If using 30mm wheel spacers, you will need to use V1 or V2 depending on your deck. Wheel spacers 30mm V2 must be used if you have a deck with extech extrusion (such as the Prodigy X deck).

What you’ll need:

  • Wheel spacer kit
  • 5 or 6mm allen keys
  • Set of wheels (match wheel size to spacers ie 30mm wheel spacers for 30mm wheels)

Step 1.Remove rear wheel. To begin, remove the rear wheel by loosening it with one of your allen keys. Allan key size depends on your scooter.

Step 2. Remove existing spacers. Remove the 2 x existing rubber spacers in the deck. For each rubber spacer, take out the metal spacer that lies within it.

Step 3. Insert new metal spacer into the rubber. For each rubber spacer, insert the new metal wheel spacer from the kit.

Step 4. Install new spacers into the deck. Once you have your 2 x newly assembled rubber/metal spacers, insert one of them back into the deck, starting with the side. Slide the wheel in      place and line up the axle. Keeping the wheel in place, slide the second spacer in, then slide in the axle, and tighten it all down using your allen key.

Install the rear wheel spacer:

Step 5. Remove the front wheel. Using 2 x 5mm allen keys, loosen the wheel from the fork.

Step 6. Remove existing spacers. Use one of your allen keys to pop out the existing spacers.

Step 7. Install new fork spacers. Grab the new fork spacers from your kit. Place them inside the fork. Only one end of the spacer will fit snugly into fork .Reinstall the wheel and tighten it all  up using the 2 x 5mm allen keys.
